About Us

Manchester Frontrunners (MFR for short) is part of International Frontrunners, a network of LGBTQ+ running clubs all over the world. You can find out more about the international network of Frontrunners clubs by visiting their website.

Our LGBTQ+ running club was formed in 2005, and it has been growing ever since. We now have approximately 120 members, and whilst the majority of our members are from the LGBTQ+ community, we are open to everyone. Whether you're here to train for races, increase your fitness, or simply to meet likeminded people, we welcome and cater for all running abilities.

Our Runs

At our running club in Manchester, we actively encourage and welcome new members, no matter what their level is. Be it run-a-bit-walk-a-bit, jogging, running, racing or even training for your umpteenth marathon, we genuinely have people at all abilities, so you’ll easily find someone to help you move to that next goal!

Our main social runs are on Thursday and Saturday, which we recommend potential members try first. If you're new, we'll pair you up with a buddy who will run at your chosen distance and pace to make you feel extra welcome. We also have a track session for members on Tuesday, which involves interval training to improve speed and running form.

We also take part in many races throughout the year, including Parkrun, cross country, big events such as the Great Manchester Run, right through to marathons and beyond!

Our Social Side

Running naturally forms an important part of our club, but we also exist as part of the wider LGBTQ+ community in Manchester. We welcome people new to the city, new runners, or those looking for new friends. For that reason, the social side of our running club is highly important to us.

We meet after every run on a Thursday for food, and for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30 am in Chorlton. We also nominate a number of races as our “club races”, and organise a social afterwards to celebrate as well. Even if you haven’t run, you’re more than welcome to come and join us for food and a drink. We also put on other socials, such as bowling, picnics and walks in the country.
