In addition to our regular weekly sessions, many of our members like to compete in races and other running events. Indeed, take a cursory glance at our Facebook and Instagram, and you'll often see "Medal Monday" posts highlighting some of our members' achievements. We regularly try to organise "club races", where we try to encourage as many members to participate in, whether running or supporting/spectating. Many of these form part of our Club Championship series, with prizes at the end of each year for highest attendance alongside any personal best times. Club records of members' personal best times can also be found here.
In addition, we host our own race every spring, the "It's a Piece of Cake 10K", which we affectionately call "Cake Race". This is open to the general public, and we have members of the club both run and volunteer.
Our club races are listed below, note the 2024 Champs runs to end of November so we can award the winners at our Christmas meal, December races count towards the following year's Champs. These are a mix of races that are firm favourites among club members, as well as a few new additions to previous years’ race calendars. While there is no obligation for members to attend any of these events, we hope to see a significant club presence at them. We may hold club social activities in tandem with a number of these events, though there is no obligation for you to have taken part in these to attend.
